Sterling Global Financial and 2Hoops Productions Awards $90,000 to Community Organizations in The Bahamas
Paradise Island, The Bahamas, 05/25/23 — Sterling Global Financial, Hurricane Hole Marina and 2Hoops Productions will give a generous donation to financially empower three local organizations that help the people of The Bahamas through a unique partnership program.
The premier deep-water marina, its owner and developer, Sterling Global Financial Limited and 2Hoops Productions, announced today that it will donate $90,000 to three community organizations.
The announcement means the three partners of Hurricane Hole Helps — The Bahamas National Trust, The Bahamas Feeding Network, and Lend a Hand Bahamas — will each receive $30,000 to continue their important work around the country.
The financial assistance was made possible by funds raised during 9 live performances of “The Long Weekend,” a comedy staged at the Atlantis Theatre in February. The play was sponsored by Sterling Global Financial, Hurricane Hole, Island Site Development and numerous generous international and local donors. With the help of these sponsors, total net proceeds from the production were directed towards the charitable causes.
Written by Canadian playwright Norm Foster, the two-act, two-hour play was produced by 2Hoops Productions. Bahamian resident and Canadian actress Heather Hodgson Kosoy is the Founder and Artistic Director of 2Hoops Productions. She said she wanted the play to benefit worthy causes: “Comedy with a Cause”. It was a natural fit to select the three partner organizations already working with the marina’s Hurricane Hole Helps program.
David Kosoy, Executive Chairman and Founder of Sterling Global Financial Limited, said sponsoring the production of “The Long Weekend” was a way of helping to bring an entertaining play to Paradise Island while also supporting the hard work of community groups that play an important role in The Bahamas.
“We’re proud to be able to help our neighbors through the Hurricane Hole Helps program,” Kosoy said. “Hurricane Hole Superyacht Marina has always aimed to be a force for good in this country, and our partnership with these three organizations means we could offer financial assistance for their incredible work while also facilitating a live theatrical run of a very funny play right here on Paradise Island.”
Hurricane Hole Helps has partnered with three organizations: The Bahamas National Trust, the steward of 32 national marine and terrestrial parks that works to preserve and enhance the country’s natural resources; The Bahamas Feeding Network, which works to end the hunger crisis; and Lend a Hand Bahamas, which operates a community center that provides educational and skill training, mentorship, life skills development, and more for the socioeconomically underprivileged people of The Bahamas.
In addition to the recently announced Hurricane Hole Helps donation to each of these three organizations, Lend a Hand Bahamas will get a boost in the form of a matching contribution from the Contigo Foundation, which has pledged to match all donations up to $300,000 made toward the development of a second community center in Nassau.
